BLOG - WHAT'S GOING ON?
Friday, 24 April 2009 00:00

Thirty years ago, Phil Collins was playing Gretsch, so as a young spirit, I wanted to play a Gretsch kit as well. The reality of wallet sizes meant that never happened, but I did reach such heights as to purchase a stunning Rosewood 14 x 8 Gretsch Power Snare 24 years ago, which I still own to this day.

However, in this recession battered market, they are just about giving drums away and as a result, I now have my first acoustic kit since 1985, a lovely Gretsch Catalina Ash kit in Deep Red.

The irony is (perhaps fate?) that the Deep Red is so close to the Rosewood colour of my 1985 Gretsch that I have kept locked away safely for these past 24 years, so it was obviously meant to be.

The Legendary Name Of Gretsch

I have specific plans for this kit that will become clear on another dawn, but for now, here she is, in all her glory.
